Silk Paper Workshop
Our Guild Members received an email during the summer from Deb who invited us to an impromptu Silk Paper Workshop. Not ever having made silk paper before in my life, I was definitely interested in this workshop. On July 9, 2014 six of us joined Deb at her lovely home on the lake to make silk paper. Supplies needed include nylon netting, selection of silks, medium solutions, paintbrushes, plastic containers, water, sponges and embellishments to add like sparkles. This can be a messy workshop so protection for the table tops is a necessity. Of course, there was lots of sharing going on. The generosity of my fellow guild members never ceases to amaze me.
After a number of hours of applying the different layers and drying on the line outside, we were able to see a wonderful array of silk paper. Not one of our pieces were the same. Silk paper can be used in almost any aspect of fibre art from large pieces like wall hangings, bags and purses and vessels to small embellishments on any art work.
Again, another wonderful workshop with wonderful people.
