Glistening Webs – Canvas Work
Canvas Work was part of the Guild’s programme for 2019-2020 (this page is also under What’s New – Programmes and Workshops). In January members of the Guild, who wished to learn to create a Glistening Webs Sampler, signed up with their request for 12-count or 18-count canvas. The Guild covered the cost of the canvas; however, members were to bring their own sewing kits including a hoop, tapestry and sharp needles, scissor, a practice canvas square, as well as embroidery floss or wool.
Wenda and Linda volunteered to coach the group in this technique and in February, the group was shown how to make a grid on their choice of canvas. Mary Anne, our Librarian, was able to support this programme by providing our members a good selection of canvas stitchery books to use.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 resulted in the cessation of our Guild meetings and the next step in this project which was to continue work on the fill-in stitches.
A couple of projects have been completed and others are ongoing.
