Quinte Needlearts Guild of Belleville Workshop
In September of 2019 the members of our Guild were invited by the Quinte Needlearts Guild of Belleville, specifically Nancy Callahan, to participate in a two day workshop (November 7 and 21) led by Beth Abbott from Kingston. Beth Abbott is a weaver, spinner, quilter and stitcher. She is an active member of many groups. Three members of our Guild took advantage of this opportunity and signed up. Before our sessions began Beth delivered an interesting talk about silk – from start to finish.
There were a total of four different teaching sessions. On the first day we learned how to make a piece of silk fusion in the morning as well as creating an abstract image with sari silk strips in the afternoon. In the morning of the second day we created silly birds from felt and in the afternoon learned about making appliquéd tiles. Throughout these days, Beth offered many ideas for these projects and ideas for embellishments. Kits were be provided for each project and Beth was very generous in supplying many, many supplies.
It was a great couple of days and we enjoyed meeting the members of the Quinte Needlearts Guild. Their hospitality was certainly appreciated.
