The Biscornu is a multi-stage project developed by Joyce Gill, and shared with EAC member guilds by the Virtual Threads guild. Thank you to Joyce Gill for sharing her design with us.
Wenda - Ready to piece together my “Day of the Dead” biscornu project. It will be an eight sided cushion.
Wenda - My 8 sided biscornu completed! It makes a cute Halloween ornament.
Suz - My Non-Biscornu. Due to an error in measuring, (I really should read instructions more carefully instead of leaping into the stitching!) I had larger margins around my squares. Happily, it meant that I could add diamond shapes in between the squares for even more embroidery. My biscornu is now a sampler with 27 stitched squares. Using the same threads for each square added continuity to the design. I had fun adding my favourite stitches and trying some new ones. Now I just have to get it framed, and find some wall space.
Jan’s Biscornu – Showing two different sides
Linda- I used an uneven linen that was loosely woven and the three primary colours for the flowers in each square. Most of the buttons used to embellish are vintage. If I was to make another biscornu, I would use a more substantial material.

Maggie - I used some fabric I had from my grandmother. It turned out to be too bulky and I had difficulty stuffing and finishing it. But, lesson and some new stitches learned.
Suzanne – I had recently discovered how Blackwork Embroidery can be quite meditative. My goal was to discover 15 interesting blackwork designs in completing the project.
