Show and Tell – November 2020

Suzanne – The inspiration for my “sun-catcher” was the Experimental Organza Practice Piece by  Susan Cuss. I used my sewing machine to stitch the basic outline, and then used a hand embroidered wrapped running stitch to add texture to all the lines in the design.

Unlike Susan, I was afraid to use a soldering iron to complete my piece.  Instead I cut through all layers of the organza except for the final transparent layer.  In this way the sun still shines through.

Deb – Starting on the left…it’s Mouse  from The Gruffalo…for Nathan’s Xmas prezzie;  then the middle two are for Lucas’s birthday…Mouse from If You Gave a Mouse a Cookie and Moose from If You Gave A Moose a Muffin, his two fave books.

Then the little one on the right is Maisie Mouse, the prototype for these. She’s a tomboy mouse by default, and kinda cute!  The overalls are an adaptation of a pattern by Ann Wood, but the rest of the clothes and props I made/designed myself…

Suz – This is a placemat I am making for a family member from old table napkins. I embroidered a rooster on two of the three napkins, and will be adding batting and a backing fabric.

Then I’ll make another placemat for their cat with an embroidered chick and lace cats.

Suz – I’m in the process of making poseable dolls for my grandson. The request was for a doll family, and here is doll #1 in pieces. Some days I feel like that, too. lol!
