How I’m Spending My Pandemic ‘Vacation’ Part Deux – The Wedding – Deb Blackmore

The date was chosen last year, and everyone looked forward to the big event set for this summer…

Plans were made, services were rented, excitement grew…then Covid came and everything ground to a halt.  Weeks, then months passed, the virus raged and then settled, and finally a new ‘normal’ took hold. The wedding was back on, first at 10 people, then 30, then 60…half of what it had been, but at least it was a go.
My job, as Mother of the Groom, was to embroider the table numbers.  There would be twelve tables, one for each social bubble.

If you are interested you can click Stitching the Wedding Numbers for the the story of the making of the table numbers for my son’s wedding this summer.

Some tables would have six or seven people, some only two.
Because both their surnames began with a
...all the numbers featured a stumpwork bee...as in the Bs were getting married...the bees...you got it!
Because both B-Dads are from the UK, tables #2 and #3 had a bombus lucorum...like this one...stitched on their number.  It's a white-tailed bee native to Britain....
Everyone else got a garden-variety bombus impatiens...a black-tailed bumbler that we find in all our gardens...
The day was a resounding success...beautiful weather, happy guests, with the right mix of tears and laughter. The happy couple and their beloved dog...
...are now settled into their first home...
...and are starting their life together...❤️❤️

With love and thanks to my new DIL Hann for some of her embroideries featured here.  She’s a gal after my own heart….
