This was made for Lowell’s 18th Birthday in March when everyone was in isolation during Covid-19. It had cash inside. So which was the actual gift?!
This box is a cube: each side, top, and bottom is 3.5” x 3.5” and is made of 100% dark blue felt and lined with 100% dark blue cotton dotted with random metallic gold circles.
Stitched on the sides are old, (and not so old) work buttons. They are in various sizes, types, colours and conditions. A border is stitched in variegated cotton using back stitch. Sometimes a tiny trinket or bead is tucked in, and a few spider webs can be seen.
Each side of the box has one button sewn upside down and a non metal shirt button attached as well… not so hard to find!
What will the lad keep in the box? Who knows !!
